A Few Clarifications & Divisionals/AllStars 411
Hi Rapids,
Good Morning! Please take a moment to read through this email as it pertains to next week's meet against Brynwood and Divisionals/Allstars coming up.
We have several events left for this season. All are on our Schedule:
Brynwood Meet Clarification:
As we have noted, Brynwood will be our most competitive meet of the season. I want to clarify, however, the purpose of this swim team and league is to introduce swimmers to the fun of competitive swimming. This means that we DO NOT want to put undue pressure on them to win and beat Brynwood. At the end of the day, we want each swimmer to enjoy meets and swimming competitively.
Couple of notes to help you understand swim meets:
- Only the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places (within entire event not heat) score points for the team. This includes relays.
- The Crescendo is a tie breaker in case of a tie and is not scored unless there is a tie.
- As the season progresses, the water gets warmer - this makes it harder to race in and times either increase or do not drop. This is normal and expected. Swimmers will drop time again at Divisionals because the water is at an ideal racing temp.
Looking AHEAD to Divisionals and Allstars:
Brynwood will be our last outdoor swim meet but is NOT our last meet. All swimmers can attend and should attend our Division 1 Divisional meet where we swim at the Augusta Aquatic Center against West Lake, Farmington, and Brynwood for the Division 1 title. This is a great meet and a wonderful experience for all swimmers.
Dates and times are in our Schedule and copied above for you to mark your calendars.
Please login to rapids.swimtopia.com and mark your swimmers as attending or not attending for the rest of our events...most importantly Divisionals and Allstars.
Allstars Info:
To qualify for Allstars, swimmers have to swim in Divisionals. The events they swim in Divisionals will qualify them to compete in Allstars if they are within the top 20 across the entire CSRA Swim League. Attached is a Top Times report from the CSRA that is thru 6.15.22 and will give you an idea as to whether or not your swimmer could make Allstars. Swimmers can only swim two events in Allstars and the coaches will ensure the swimmers are in these events in Divisionals to qualify. Because swimmers are limited to only swim in 2 events, even if your swimmer is currently ranked 40th, etc. there still could be a possibility for them to swim in an event in Allstars, so it is important that you plan to attend even if you are not sure if they will qualify.
Even if you are not sure whether your swimmer will qualify, please mark whether or not you would be able to attend on Monday, June 27th night if they do qualify.
Mark your calendars as we have a lot of great swimming and events still ahead of us! Looking forward to finishing this great season with a wonderful celebration at the end.
LOVE OUR RAPIDS!
